Major companies have given more than $13 million to ‘election deniers’ since Jan. 6

Politicians who voted to oppose the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election have received more than $13 million in donations from Fortune 500 companies since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Despite initially pledging to suspend fundraising for those who rejected the results of the 2020 election, dozens of major companies have since resumed giving money to the 147 Republicans who voted against certifying President Joe Biden’s win, according to data gathered by ProPublica, which dubbed them “election deniers.”

MAJORITY OF VOTERS HAVE ELECTION DENIERS ON BALLOT FOR POSITIONS THAT OVERSEE ELECTIONS

GOP House leaders Reps. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Steve Scalise (R-LA) received the most money from these Fortune 500 companies, raking in $562,500 and $488,640, respectively, since Jan. 6, according to the outlet. Fortune 500 companies are businesses ranked by Fortune magazine based on their total revenue.

The top five companies giving the most fundraising to election denier candidates are Home Depot (which donated $475,000), Boeing ($390,500), AT&T ($389,900), United Parcel Service ($374,000), and Lockheed Martin ($366,500), according to the data. Each of those companies had pledged to halt contributions after the Capitol riot, but they have since resumed those payments.

Despite the renewed support for the candidates who voted to invalidate Biden’s win, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) suggested last week that companies who initially pulled their support may face consequences if the GOP controls one or both chambers of Congress.
