Amy Schneider, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, left a position as an engineering manager in Oakland, California, after winning over a million dollars on Jeopardy!.
Schneider, who attained the second-longest winning streak in the game show’s history, made the announcement Tuesday on Twitter.
“Some of you may have heard, but I quit my day job yesterday!” the contestant wrote. “It’s a bit nerve-wracking to pivot from software engineer to … public figure, I guess? But regardless of the outcome I’m so excited to spend the next couple years at least tackling this new challenge!”
