Seth Meyers takes Kellyanne Conway to task for wanting Roy Moore in the Senate to pass tax reform

Late Night” host Seth Meyers jabbed Kellyanne Conway for placing the importance of passing tax reform over keeping Roy Moore, accused of sexual misconduct with a minor and trying to date other teenagers decades ago, out of the Senate.

Meyers said sexual harassment isn’t a partisan issue and added “it’s gross and cynical to exploit it for political gain while you refuse to condemn the abusers in your own party.”

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and Conway, a counselor to the president, have reportedly been advising Trump to not address the allegations against Moore, the Daily Beast reported.

Conway herself was candid why she was lobbying Trump to not speak on the issue and said, “We want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through,” in an appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday.

“So, according to Kellyanne Conway, there is now a lower bar of entry for the Senate than a mall in Alabama,” Meyers said.

Multiple reports emerged last week alleging Moore may have been banned from the Gadsden Mall because he allegedly badgered teenage girls there.

Meyers also pointed out Monday night that although Trump has a track record for attacking people, he has not attacked Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

“So now, the list of people Trump has attacked includes black NFL athletes, black college basketball players, a black congresswoman, and a mayor who’s a woman of color,” Meyers said on Monday night. “And who’s on the list of people Trump hasn’t attacked? Dictators, Nazis, and an accused sexual predator who cosplays as creepy Yosemite Sam.”

Four women accused Moore of pursuing sexual and romantic relations with them when they were between the ages of 14 and 18, and he was in his 30s, the Washington Post first reported last week. Others have come forward with additional allegations since then.

Moore, who has maintained throughout the controversy that he has not committed any wrongdoing, is up against Democrat Doug Jones next month in the Alabama special election to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ empty U.S. Senate seat.
