Kate McKinnon thanks Hillary Clinton at the Emmys after playing her on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Saturday Night Live” star Kate McKinnon included Hillary Clinton in her acceptance speech Sunday, after being honored with the gong for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmy Awards.

“On a very personal note, I want to say thank you to Hillary Clinton for your grace and grit,” McKinnon said, while also expressing her gratitude towards the show’s team and her family.

McKinnon made waves during the 2016 election cycle for her imitation of Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate, and key members of President Trump’s campaign staff like Kellyanne Conway.

“Being part of this season of ‘Saturday Night Live’ was the most meaningful thing that I will ever do,” McKinnon said. “So I should just probably stop now.”

McKinnon beat Kathryn Hahn and Judith Light, both of “Transparent,” Anna Chlumsky of “Veep,” as well as cast mates Vanessa Bayer and Leslie Jones for the award.
