‘Business as usual’: White House denies limits on in-person meetings amid coronavirus outbreak

The spread of the coronavirus has not affected White House operations, press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Monday.

Grisham said reports about the White House directing staff to limit in-person interactions and meetings were “completely false.”

“While we have asked all Americans to exercise common-sense hygiene measures, we are conducting business as usual. I want to remind the media once again to be responsible with all reporting,” Grisham said in a statement.

Trump, who is in an age group particularly vulnerable to the virus, has been shaking hands despite public health experts recommending against it. Trump, 73, shook hands with supporters who greeted him upon his arrival at Orlando Sanford International Airport Monday morning.

Several White House officials, including Trump, attended the Conservative Political Action Conference nearly two weeks ago. An infected attendee interacted with several high-profile Republicans.

There have been no reports about anyone who works in the White House becoming sick with the coronavirus.
