?Goof on the Roof? busted

He went from on top of a bar to behind bars. Baltimore City?s self-proclaimed “Goof on the roof” ? who was camping out on the roof of a Canton bar until the Baltimore Ravens broke their losing streak ? was arrested today on an outstanding warrant.

Baltimore City police picked up Ron Stack, 41, for failure to pay child support in Baltimore County, the county sheriff?s office said. Stack was making numerous television appearances publicizing his unique form of sports-fan protest.

He?s set to appear before a court commissioner in Towson at 2 p.m.

Baltimore County Sheriff?s Deputy Robert Brown said Stack is being treated well behind bars.

“He’s sitting here in good spirits,” he said.

Darren Petty, the owner of the Canton Station bar and Stack?s longtime friend, said Stack had thrown in the towel on Christmas, and come off the roof on his own.

“He wasn?t arrested off the roof; he had left prior,” he said.

Petty said he received a call Wednesday from a woman initially claiming to be a newspaper reporter but who later said she was the mother of Stack?s 19-year-old son.

Petty said she asked about Stack?s payment for the stunt — he received none — before hanging up. Petty said he wasn?t sure if the woman might have turned Stack in to authorities.

Before Stack took to the roof after the Ravens? Dec. 9 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Petty recalled asking Stack about outstanding legal issues.

“I asked him, I said, ?You?re sure you?ve got nothing on you??” Petty said. “He said, ?Come on Darren, I?m offended.? [I wasn?t] thinking he had anything on him. [I was] just kidding around.”
