Voters were more likely to support candidates who want to fund the police, expand oil and gas production, and uphold Roe v. Wade, according to a new NBC News poll. People also said they were less likely to support a candidate who believes that former President Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
The poll, conducted from March 18-22 and consisting of 790 registered voters, measured the most and least popular stances candidates can take ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
The survey revealed 75% of respondents were more likely to vote for a candidate who supports and funds the police, whereas only 11% were less likely to vote for said candidate. Conversely, 73% of respondents were less likely to vote for someone who supported measures taking funds away from law enforcement.
Other popular stances included supporting a bipartisan infrastructure bill, lowering drug costs, and wanting to do more to support Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.

The least popular selling point for candidates is an endorsement from Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, according to the data. Only 7% of voters would be more likely to vote for someone with her endorsement.
According to the survey, people were 54% less likely to vote for a candidate who says former President Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election. Similarly, they were 47% less likely to support a candidate who received the former leader’s endorsement.

Rumors have swirled about a possible 2024 presidential run for Trump, though he hasn’t confirmed such a bid. A recent Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey showed that the former president would likely take the GOP nomination should he decide to run. Trump would also lead Vice President Kamala Harris by roughly 10% in a hypothetical presidential race, according to the survey.
