Rep. Steve King praised a fictional Marine Corps colonel on the Fourth of July.
The Iowa Republican appeared to get duped Thursday evening by a Young Turks reporter named Ken Klippenstein, who asked King to give a retweet to his “uncle” Col. Nathan Jessup.
That is a character played by Jack Nicholson in the 1992 film A Few Good Men, which was adapted from a play of the same name by Aaron Sorkin. The tweet included a photo of Nicholson in the role.

“Colonel Jessup and all your Marines: God Bless you all. You have our back and millions of us have yours! God Bless America and all her warriors defending our Liberty!” King said in his retweet, along with signing off on it with his initials.
People quickly took notice and mocked King for the blunder.

When I first saw this tweet by @kenklippenstein, I figured no one would be dumb enough to fall for it.
I forgot about the black hole of ignorance that is Steve King. pic.twitter.com/wci6hlYKr6
