THE DAILY OUTRAGE: Leaving the station … with your money

Who: Federal Highway Administration

What: Authorized a 1.1 million Transportation Enhancement Grant to restore Glassboro’s “historic” train station, built in 1860. The station will become a museum, a “public meeting space” and welcome center. In 2002, a Transportation Enhancement Grant of $230,000 was given to the borough to purchase the station.

Why it’s an outrage: The train station was purchased at the taxpayer’s expense and is now being repaired at the taxpayer’s expense, but it’s hard to see how federal taxpayers will benefit from the restoration of an old train station in New Jersey.

Where to vent: Call the Department of Transportation inspector general at202-366-1959.
