MIAMI (AP) — A former partner of convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein is facing up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a conspiracy charge.
Stuart Rosenfeldt entered the plea Wednesday in Miami federal court. He will remain free on $250,000 bail until a Sept. 24 sentencing.
In pleading guilty, Rosenfeldt admitted involvement in campaign finance violations and financial irregularities at Fort Lauderdale’s Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm.
He also admitted conspiring with law enforcement officers to force a paid female escort out of state when her boyfriend threatened to expose their relationship.
The charges are not directly linked to Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, which involved investments in fake legal settlements.
Rothstein is serving 50 years in prison. Third partner Russell Adler also pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
