If you choose to sail aboard a Carnival cruise ship, wearing a face mask will no longer be required.
Carnival Cruise Line announced it will “recommend but not require” masks for passengers come March 1.
“The public health situation has continued to improve, providing confidence about these changes,” Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said.
The cruise line noted that masks may be required for certain venues and events and said it remains committed to meeting “the standard of vaccinated cruises.”
Carnival will participate in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s new COVID-19 Program for Cruise Ships.

Under the new program, participating cruise ships with at least 95% of those on board who are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines will receive a “vaccination standard of excellence.” Ships’ statuses will be listed on the CDC’s Cruise Ship Color Status webpage. The color statuses will also dictate quarantine and isolation protocols.
“Our protocols will evolve as we continue to remain dedicated to protecting the public health of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit,” Duffy said.
