MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — The University of Montana and medical providers in Missoula and Kalispell are partnering to create a new family residency program to train more physicians who might stay to work in the state, the university announced.
The program is “the most effective mechanism available to improve access to medical care in rural Montana,” said Dr. Ned Vazquez, who will direct the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana. “Our mission is to train family doctors to serve the many rural communities in the state that are chronically in need of physicians.”
