Rudy Giuliani, a personal lawyer for President Trump, alleged that 650,000 ballots were counted unlawfully in the two largest cities in the state of Pennsylvania.
“We now are up to a count of about 650,000 ballots that are unlawful ballots that were cast in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh,” he said in an interview with Fox Business’s Lou Dobbs. “No doubt about the fact they’re unlawful.”
Giuliani added that “almost none” of the ballots were observed by a Republican. It is unclear in that comment to what specific region he was referring. He did not provide proof to back up his claim.
“What’s being said in the mass media, that we have no evidence, is a complete, absolute lie, just like they’ve been lying for years,” Giuliani said. Dobbs chuckled in response.
Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said in a statement on Monday that all parties were allowed to observe the process and that “any insinuation otherwise is a lie.”
The Trump campaign has also said that there were large numbers of extra votes cast in the state for people who are dead, but it has only named a few people it believes to have been illegally counted.
“Pennsylvania is going to fight every single attempt to disenfranchise voters,” the governor’s office added. “We will protect this election and the democratic process. Pennsylvania will count every vote, and we will protect the count of every vote.”
Giuliani said during a Fox News interview on Sunday that the lawsuits being filed by the Trump campaign might reveal up to 900,000 invalid ballots cast across the entire state of Pennsylvania. He didn’t make clear on Wednesday whether that statewide figure would be affected by the count he mentioned for Philadelphia and Pittsburgh by themselves.
The Associated Press declared former Vice President Joe Biden the victor of the presidential election on Saturday. The Trump campaign insists that call has been premature.
