Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s Mad Money, is warning that the threat of the coronavirus outbreak to U.S. commerce and American lives is underappreciated.
“This is real. It probably can’t be contained,” Cramer told The Street, adding that “I think that we must be realistic.”

To support his point, Cramer referred to the passengers who recently fled the Diamond Princess, the contaminated cruise ship docked in Japan, only to board a plane to the United States that contained people infected with the virus. The plane was supposed to be virus-free.
“It’s just the law of numbers now,” Cramer said.
Earlier on Friday, Cramer posted that “lives are at stake,” apparently because of the virus, which originated in China.
