3 killed in Fairfax car crash

Three people were killed in a three-car crash in Fairfax County.

The crash happened at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, when a Toyota pickup truck crossed the median on Backlick Road near Fullerton Road, and hit a Jeep Cherokee head-on, then side-swiped an Oldsmobile sedan. The truck then flipped over and came to a stop on its roof, Fairfax County police said.

The truck driver, 39-year-old James Cetto II, of Dale City, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His passenger, a 41-year-old man, was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s name has not released because his family is still being notified, police said Thursday afternoon.

They were not wearing seatbelts, police said.

The Jeep driver, 52-year-old Katherine F. Miller, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The 47-year-old male Oldsmobile driver was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Police said the crash stillis  under investigation, and it’s not yet known whether alcohol or excess speed contributed to the crash.
