Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) wrote a viral Facebook post railing against a new series from a Disney conglomerate about the devil, starring Danny DeVito.
Johnson discovered the series, having already premiered its fourth episode, by watching a trailer during the Louisiana State University football game Sunday. The Louisiana representative subsequently wrote about his reaction to the series, in which a little girl is characterized as the Antichrist because she is the daughter of a witch and Satan, in a post on Monday.
“I couldn’t get to the remote fast enough to shield my 11-year-old from the preview, and I wonder how many other children were exposed to it — and how many millions more will tune in to the new series, owned and marketed by DISNEY,” Johnson wrote. “Disney and FX have decided to embrace and market what is clearly evil.”

Little Demon is produced by FX Networks, which alongside Hulu was acquired by Disney from Fox in a 2017 stock deal that was worth nearly $52.4 billion. Currently, it is streamed on Hulu in the United States but on the Disney+ streaming service in Australia and New Zealand. Alongside father DeVito, Lucy DeVito was cast in the star role.
Johnson’s post was viewed over 12 million times by Thursday, according to him, which is more than the game that “dominated Sunday night TV with 5.87 million total viewers.” It would go on to garner over 150,000 comments and 45,000 likes.
“My post did NOT call for (or even reference) censorship, new legislation, government action, or even a boycott of Disney (the parent company) or FX (the creator/distributor) of the dark new series,” Johnson clarified in a Thursday post. “All I did was call OUT something that I personally believe is dangerous so other parents can be on notice if they share my concern.”
The Louisiana representative also noted that he did not believe or imply that the series is geared toward children.
Still, others have called for the show’s cancellation, with two separate petitions gathering more than 30,000 signatures calling on Disney to kill the animated program.
“Disney and FX have made a decision to embrace and market what is plainly and obviously evil. We the people have the freedom to call it out and to decide what we want to do about it,” Johnson wrote Thursday. “I am encouraged that many millions of families are taking a stand over this, that countless many have committed to part ways with the companies responsible for the new series, and that some concerned citizens have created an online petition to try to stop it.”
