YouTube star Jake Paul throws massive mansion party during pandemic and draws ire of California mayor

YouTuber Jake Paul has earned the condemnation of the mayor of Calabasas, California, after throwing a giant party at his mansion on Saturday.

“It wasn’t just myself who was outraged, it was everyone who saw the video,” Mayor Alicia Weintraub told Fox 11 on Tuesday.

Videos on social media show dozens of young people packed inside and outside the home. In one video, women dangle from a crane being swung across the yard.

From what could be seen in the videos, there was no social distancing taking place, and none of the attendees appeared to be wearing masks.

Calabasas is part of Los Angeles County, an area that has experienced a large coronavirus spike. On Tuesday, the county reported its greatest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day at 4,244.

Weintraub said that, as a result of the gathering, the city will be instituting a zero-tolerance policy on house parties.

The shock-jock video maker is no stranger to controversy. He came under fire last month after he recorded an Arizona mall being looted during protests over the death of George Floyd.

Paul has not yet commented on the incident on his YouTube channel nor has he responded to Fox 11’s request for more information.
