Dave Chappelle wants to bring ‘the culture’ back: ‘F*** everything they say’

Comedian Dave Chappelle wants to bring the “culture” back — and that culture has no “cancel” in front of it.

Chappelle, standing onstage beside rappers Lil Jon, whom he famously impersonated on Chappelle’s Show, Too Short, and Raphael Saadiq, the award-winning comedian, expressed his desire to bring back the “culture.”

“F*** everything they say on television,” he said in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Let’s bring the culture back together. It’s all for the culture.”

While he didn’t specify, Chappelle was likely referring to cultural progression without the worry of the current cultural climate in which comedians, actors, and other public figures are fired from their positions because of hot takes on political issues.

Chappelle was criticized for his remarks on the transgender community after his Netflix special, The Closer, was released on Oct. 5. Netflix employees even staged a walkout in support of transgender rights, but executives did not budge.

“All of this month, I am going to travel around the United States,” Chappelle said. “I’m going to bring this movie with me, and I’m going to bring this energy with me.”

“The champs are here.”
