The Department of Defense revealed on Monday the identity of a Georgia Army National Guardsman who died in a noncombat incident in Afghanistan.
Spc. Miguel L. Holmes, 22, from Hinesville, Ga., died May 6, 2019, in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, while deployed in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Holmes was assigned to 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Savannah, Ga.
Holmes’ death, which is under investigation, is the tenth American death in Afghanistan for 2019.
The following service members have been killed in both combat and noncombat incidents in Afghanistan.
