The 40th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade is being held this weekend in Alexandria. Sponsored by the Scottish government, the parade’s organizers say nothing gets folks in the holiday spirit like the “fresh scent of heather and the festive melody of bagpipes.” The festivities begin Friday with Scottish markets, Scotch tastings and family activities. The parade will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. and features more than 100 Scottish clans, bagpipe and drum bands, history re-enactment groups, dog clubs, and a visit from Santa Claus.
