Wages and benefits in the northeast region led the country, with the mid-Atlantic division only slightly behind New England, according to a Department of Labor report released Monday.
In the mid-Atlantic division, total compensation for private-sector workers in June averaged $30.41 per hour, while New England averaged $30.47, according to the report.
The south region had the lowest average compensation at $23.89 per hour, with the south Atlantic averaging $25.53 per hour. Nationwide, compensation averaged $26.78, according to the data.
