Georgia Sen. David Perdue entered quarantine after coming in close contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus, his campaign said Thursday.
Perdue’s campaign said he came into “close contact” with someone on his team who later tested positive for COVID-19. Perdue and his wife have tested negative for the virus so far.
“This morning Senator Perdue was notified that he came into close contact with someone on the campaign who tested positive for COVID-19,” the statement read. “Both Senator Perdue and his wife tested negative today, but following his doctor’s recommendations and in accordance with CDC guidelines, they will quarantine.”

“The Senator and his wife have been tested regularly throughout the campaign, and the team will continue to follow CDC guidelines,” the statement continued.
Perdue is only days away from the Tuesday special elections in Georgia in which he and Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler will attempt to hold on to their seats.
