Supporter: Trump wins if he shows ‘he’s not Adolf Hitler’

Donald Trump will have no problem winning the general election, one of his supporters says, as long as he successfully proves “he’s not Adolf Hitler.”

KABC radio host John Phillips, a Trump surrogate, argued Monday that Trump and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton are two different candidates that face two different challenges in the general election. He said Trump should be able to beat Clinton in November because of that.

“This is a matchup that’s very dangerous to Hillary Clinton,” Phillips explained to Ted Cruz supporter Steve Lonegan on CNN’s “New Day” Monday. “If Donald Trump is going to win the general election, he’s going to have to prove to the public that he’s not Adolf Hitler, which is going to be easy for him to do.”

“If Hillary Clinton is going to win the nomination, she’s going to have to prove that she’s not Hillary Clinton,” he added. “That’s going to be much harder to do.”

Lonegan had argued that Trump and Clinton are “two sides of the same coin,” something that will be a detriment to Trump.
