House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi fawned over President Obama during a commencement address Saturday, informing graduates at Morgan State University they have Obama’s “great leadership” to thank for the “momentous” state of American democracy.
“In the final year of President Barack Obama’s historic presidency, you are graduating into a new and momentous time in American democracy — made so by President Obama’s great leadership,” Pelosi told the audience at the historically black college in Baltimore, Md.
“And aren’t we proud of our President Obama?” she added. “And aren’t we proud of our first family of the United States?”
Pelosi, a Democrat from California, also brought “greetings” from the House Democratic Caucus, which she said she is “proud to say is more than 50 percent women, people of color and LGBT.”
She added that the caucus “believes that when women succeed, America succeeds,” before listing off progressive wish-list items such as obtaining equal pay for women and restoring the Voting Rights Act.
