Fired FBI Director James Comey tweeted a Bible verse on Friday about the virtues of justice, hours after former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of lying to federal authorities.
Quoting a passage from the Old Testament, Comey tweeted: “Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! Amos 5:24.”

President Trump fired Comey in May. He later told a congressional panel that, while he was at the helm of the FBI, the president had urged him to end an ongoing investigation into Flynn.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate Comey’s firing and possible ties between Trump associates and Russia.
Flynn became the first ex-White House staffer on Friday to face criminal charges as part of the special counsel investigation, admitting that he lied to FBI officials about his conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition.
The former West Wing staffer is expected to cooperate with Mueller, an arrangement that could place Trump and several of his current aides in greater legal jeopardy.
“My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel’s Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country,” Flynn said in a statement.
Comey himself has come under scrutiny for his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee in June.
Marc Kasowitz, an attorney for Trump, appeared to accuse the former FBI director of lying under oath shortly after he appeared before the Senate panel.
“The President never, in form or substance, directed or suggested that Mr. Comey stop investigating anyone, including suggesting that Mr. Comey ‘let Flynn go,'” Kasowitz said in a statement this summer.
