Vice President Mike Pence boosted Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination while on the stump in West Virginia on Saturday.
Pence called out the Mountain State’s sitting Democratic senator while talking about Gorsuch’s confirmation prospects.
“If we can get the help of Sen. Joe Manchin and with the help of Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Judge Neil Gorsuch will soon become Justice Neil Gorsuch in America and the rule of law will be better for it,” Pence said. “President Trump and I are confident the United States Senate will confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch one way or the other.”
Pence’s remarks hint at the Trump administration’s interest in having Senate Republicans use the “nuclear option” to overcome a minority filibuster by Senate Democrats if necessary. Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley set a committee vote on Gorsuch’s nomination for April 3.
