Karl Rove says Trump campaign should be ‘happy’ with early Texas results

Republican strategist Karl Rove said President Trump has nothing to worry about as rural vote totals in Texas begin to roll in on election night.

“If you’re a Democrat and you’ve got 40-some-odd percent of the vote out and the big cities are largely in, that 105,000 is going to disappear when Taylor County comes in, Abilene, East Texas, Pineywood, Smith, Longview, others start coming in,” Rove said during a Fox News appearance on Tuesday night. “If I’m looking at this, I’m happy in the Trump headquarters.”

Rove said he expects Trump to win the state, which Democrats have viewed as being vulnerable, by “3%, maybe 4%.”

Trump is facing off against Joe Biden in the presidential race. Texas has 38 electoral votes.

Rove warned that Trump has a “problem” in the suburbs based on some early voting counts out of Texas and Ohio, which were both still close to call as of 9:48 p.m. EST.
