Preet Bharara, the Manhattan U.S. attorney who President Trump fired earlier this spring, announced Thursday he has signed a book deal with publisher Alfred A. Knopf, a part of Penguin Random House Inc.
The book is scheduled to be released in early 2019 and Bhara did not disclose how much the publisher is paying him in the deal, according to multiple reports.
Bharara’s book will not only focus on law, but also address “integrity, leadership, decision making and moral reasoning” that he experienced as the chief federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York.
“It addresses what it means to do the right thing, how to avoid doing the wrong thing and the role of thoughtfulness in making the best choice,” Bharara said in a statement.
Bharara signed on with New York University’s law school following his termination.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., suggested at the time that Bharara’s firing could be related to potential investigations of Trump that the administration wanted to avoid seeing completed.
“When they asked about the Emoluments Clause and possible violations of it and the U.S. attorney’s relationship to that, I think that had perhaps something to do with,” Cummings told ABC’s “This Week.”
