Robby Mook, who ran Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful campaign for president in 2016, celebrated Democrat Ralph Northam’s gubernatorial election victory in Virginia on Tuesday as a “Big defeat” for President Trump’s “agenda and tactics.”
Minutes after the Associated Press called the race in favor of Northam over Republican Ed Gillespie, Mook heralded what he called a “crushing” performance by Democrats in Virginia that indicates “everything [is] going right.”
“Our base turnout is strong. This will be a great night. Thanks to the field team and volunteers who knocked 1.3 million doors last 4 days,” Mook said.

Clinton performed well in the Virginia, a swing state, during the 2016 election against Trump, who ultimately carried enough swing states to defeat Clinton and Mook’s data-driven approach.
Mook and other top Clinton campaign aides face allegations of sexism and over-obsession with data by former interim DNC head Donna Brazile in her new book, claims which the Clinton team has denied.
