Britney Spears’s ex-husband arrested after attempt to ‘crash’ her wedding

Pop star Britney Spears’s first husband was arrested Thursday after he claimed to have attempted to “crash” his ex-wife’s wedding.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said it answered a call about someone trespassing at Spears’s estate but stressed the arrest of Spears’s ex-husband, Jason Alexander, was because of an out-of-county warrant, not for crashing the wedding, according to Fox News. The sheriff’s department said Alexander is no longer in custody.

Alexander, whom Spears briefly married in Las Vegas in 2004, posted a livestream on his Instagram page in which he revealed that he was crashing Spears’s wedding, hours before the ceremony was set to begin. He was later seen inside of Spears’s home in Thousand Oaks, California, when he was instructed to leave.

“I’m her first husband. I’m here to crash her wedding,” Alexander said in the video.

Spears’s wedding Thursday evening is her third. She was previously married to Alexander for 55 hours, which ended in an annulment, and then to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. Spears and Federline share two children: Jayden James, 15, and Sean Preston, 16. Neither were expected to be at Spears’s wedding, nor were her father, mother, or sister.

Spears was released from a 13-year conservatorship, which resulted in a fallout between the pop singer and her family, late last year.

Alexander’s arrest Thursday was not the first time he was arrested. In December, Alexander was arrested for violating a restraining order and stalking an unidentified woman. He was released in January and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor stalking charge, according to the Independent. He was placed on probation for just under a year as a result.

He was also arrested in 2021 for driving under the influence and for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession or casual exchange of a controlled substance, according to US Magazine.

Despite the shenanigans with Alexander, Spears’s wedding to Sam Asghari was still expected to go on as planned.
