DALLAS (AP) — Emergency personnel used ladders to rescue 48 people stranded on a stalled monorail at the Dallas Zoo.
There were no reports of injuries.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans says the monorail stalled about 12 to 15 feet above ground Wednesday. Zoo spokeswoman Laurie Holloway says a power surge caused the stall. She says the monorail will remain closed through Friday while the track and trains are inspected.
The aging monorail has a history of malfunctioning. Nearly 100 people were stranded when it stalled in February.
In recent years it’s malfunctioned on at least two other occasions, each time requiring emergency workers using ladders to rescue passengers.
