Trump footage reportedly used in terrorist recruitment video

Hillary Clinton’s claim that the Islamic State uses footage of Donald Trump as a recruitment tool may have been bogus, but it appears less far off the mark in a wake of a new video.

Footage compiled by the Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab includes the Republican front-runner arguing for a “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”

The video bleeps out “hell.”

The video’s authenticity is not certain, though the SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks terrorist communications, said has determined al-Shabaab created the video.

Clinton claimed during a Democratic debate in December that the Islamic State is “going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”

There remains no public evidence that the Islamic State has used footage of Trump for recruitment. Clinton’s campaign has not verified her claim.

Al-Shabaab is a terrorist group in war-torn Somalia that claims allegiance to al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda is considered an Islamic State rival in Syria, Afghanistan and other war zones.

The al-Shabaab video features clips from Malcolm X and deceased cleric Anwar al-Alwaki, who was killed by an American drone strike in Yemen in 2011. The video includes footage of police shootings and violence against African Americans in Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore. It claims American Muslims will face similar treatment.

Trump and Clinton’s campaign’s did not respond to requests for comment on the video.
