Amid an ongoing feud between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a contingent of liberal freshman congresswomen, actor and comedian Seth MacFarlane is urging Democrats to back off intraparty social media jabs.
The 45-year-old MacFarlane, known for creating the long-running animated TV comedy Family Guy, warned on Twitter that the highly public infighting between Pelosi and other more liberal members of her caucus would hurt Democrats’ chance of unseating President Trump.
“Dear Democrats — I beg you: More unity, less Twitter. You’re all on the same side. If you allow the disease of social media-style outrage to infect Congressional process, it’s gonna more Trump in 2020. Put the internet on pause, get in a room, and talk,” he said.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, referring to herself and Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, said this week that Pelosi was explicitly “singling out of newly elected women of color.”
The remark, coupled with a tweet from Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff contending that moderate Democrats “seem hell bent to do to black and brown peopled today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s,” has created tension within the party.
Rep. Lacy Clay of Missouri reportedly said Thursday that the freshman group’s “ignorance is beyond belief” and that the congresswomen have much to learn about working with their colleagues.
“It was such a weak argument to say she was being picked on and that four women of color were being picked on by the speaker,” the 62-year-old Clay said.
