Debbie Wasserman Schultz Thrown to the Fact-Checkers

The Washington Post‘s Glenn Kessler fact checks DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz claim that Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform would “throw [seniors] to the wolves and allow insurance companies to deny you coverage and drop you for pre-existing conditions.”

Kessler finds the claim to be “bogus,” while another health policy expert calls it “high-octane idiocy”:

We checked with Michael Cannon, director of health policy at the libertarian Cato Institute, one of the experts cited by [DNC spokesman Hari] Sevugan as backing up Wasserman Schultz’s claim. Cannon described her comment as “high-octane idiocy.”

Update: Politifact and Factcheck.org pile on.
