A former BuzzFeed employee posted a parody quiz Monday on the BuzzFeed site that makes fun of some of the media company’s practices that may have contributed to the decision to lay off 15 percent of its employees.
The quiz, titled “Do You Still Have A Job At BuzzFeed?,” was created on BuzzFeed’s community page, which lets anyone create a quiz.
The parody quiz created by Jason Sweeten asked questions of former and current BuzzFeed employees, including what department they work in. One of the answers is, “For the last two years I’ve done nothing but write personality quizzes. My boss assured me that I could try other things within the department, but she was just laid off.”
Another question asked if the poll-taker is a manager at BuzzFeed. One of the answers is, “Yes. But that is because it was the only way for me to advance here. Then there wasn’t much training, and now I fear I’m doing a poor job. But also, I can’t revert to being a writer because they say that I’m needed. It’s so confusing.”
The question, “Wasn’t our holiday party lit?” can be answered this way: “Did you know? When you were spending that money on appetizers and an open bar? Did you know that were were paying for a celebration at the expense of people’s livelihoods?”
Other answers called on the company to pay for former employees’ unused paid time off and help them with their health insurance.
The last question made fun of many previous BuzzFeed quizzes and asked people to choose a color. Poll-takers can choose between red, blue, green, and “unionize your media company.”
