Incoming National Security Adviser John Bolton shared his well wishes Saturday to the man he is replacing in the White House, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who officially left the post on Friday.
“All the best to H.R. McMaster as he departs the NSC. He is a true leader and patriot, and I am thankful for his long service to our country,” Bolton tweeted, along with a picture of the two shaking hands.

Late last month, President Trump announced via tweet Bolton would be replacing McMaster on April 9, which is Monday.
McMaster received a “clap out” from his former coworkers as he walked out of the White House for the last time Friday afternoon. Before that, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said McMaster met with Bolton for a final transition meeting during the afternoon.
In a statement later that evening, McMaster thanked Trump and wished Bolton “the very best” in his new role.
Bolton was seen on the White House grounds Saturday morning.
