Disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is asking for a presidential commutation of his prison sentence.
Department of Justice spokeswoman Dena Iverson said Friday the department received a petition for commutation from Blagojevich of his 14-year sentence on a corruption conviction.

The Chicago Democrat was sentenced in 2011 after he was convicted of soliciting bribes in for political appointments, including President Obama’s former Senate seat.
Five of his 18 convictions have since been struck down by an appeals court. However, in August, a judge upheld his 14-year sentence during a resenting hearing in district court.
Blagojevich, now 60, is currently being held at Federal Correctional Institution in Englewood, Colo.
