President-elect Donald Trump tweeted a message of concern and confusion on Thursday after demonstrators took to the streets in major U.S. cities protesting his Tuesday night victory.
“Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!” Trump wrote at 9:20 p.m. EST.

Advisers to the incoming Republican president have said they are focused on pushing a message of inclusion following the GOP nominee’s controversial campaign, which sometimes left Muslim-Americans and immigrants feeling put down.
Trump’s tweet was a defense of the democratic process, which he said last month was “rigged” by rival Hillary Clinton. His Thursday evening post – claiming the demonstrators are professionals – did not address the thousands who are protesting out of concern that he will not be a president for all Americans.
