Rory Mcllroy hits father with wayward shot at Masters

A professional golfer accidentally hit his father with a drive at the 85th Masters on Thursday.

Rory McIlroy, the former top golfer in the world, shouted, “Fore!” upon his wayward shot on the seventh hole, but it proved to be insufficient as the golf ball hit his father, Gerry, on the leg.

Gerry walked it off.

“I should ask for an autographed glove,” the elder McIlroy joked while speaking to reporters, according to the Australian Associated Press.

Rory McIlroy has 18 career PGA tournament victories, although he hasn’t won one since November 2019. His last major title came in the 2014 U.S. PGA Championship.

The first round of the 85th Masters began on Thursday, taking place at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
