The hosts of ABC’s The View said they did not understand all the hate Joe Biden was getting after pictures and video of him nibbling his wife’s finger during a campaign rally went viral.
“I thought it was so cute. People are so angry about that clip,” host Meghan McCain said. McCain, an outspoken conservative and the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, has a close connection with the former vice president saying in the past that she loves Biden “in a way that I loved my father.”
“They clearly still love each other and are playful,” McCain added about the Biden nibble.
“I thought in that moment they looked like they are very happy. And frankly, I think he needs to do more of that,” host Abby Huntsman said, adding it was Biden’s “soft side” coming out during the finger nibble.
“They seem to like each other those two,” host Joy Behar said before taking a dig at first lady Melania Trump for looking “like she’s at a funeral half the time.”
Biden, 77, was widely mocked for the finger nibbling of Dr. Jill Biden in what was described as a strange and awkward gesture. The campaign moment happened during a Saturday stop in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
