US attorney: Prince Andrew providing ‘zero cooperation’ as FBI seeks interview about Jeffrey Epstein

The FBI is seeking to interview British royal Prince Andrew about the death of financier Jeffrey Epstein.

U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman announced on Monday that Prince Andrew has not cooperated with requests for the interview, despite his previous offer to do so. Berman made the announcement outside one of Epstein’s mansions.

“Ordinarily, our office doesn’t comment on whether an individual cooperates or doesn’t cooperate with our investigation. However, in Prince Andrew’s case, he publicly offered, indeed in a press release, offered to cooperate with law enforcement investigating the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators,” Berman said, according to the New York Daily News.

“I think in that context, it’s fair for people to know whether Prince Andrew has followed through with that public commitment. So, let me say that the Southern District of New York and the FBI have contacted Prince Andrew’s attorneys and requested to interview Prince Andrew, and to date, Prince Andrew has provided zero cooperation.”

Epstein was charged with sexually abusing underage girls in Florida and New York, with some as young as 14, before his death in the summer of 2019. Virginia Roberts Giuffre, one of Epstein’s alleged victims, has said that Epstein trafficked her to Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew has denied that accusation.
