Russian foreign minister warns that World War III will be nuclear

Russia’s foreign minister said that if World War III does occur in the near future, it will be nuclear.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized the danger of a future World War, particularly as NATO, the European Union, and the United Nations unite in opposition against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

Lavrov believes the next World War would involve nuclear weapons and be destructive, the RIA News Agency reported. He also claimed that Russia would be in danger if Ukraine acquired nuclear weapons, implying that the two may lead to that eventual conflict.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CALLS FOR UKRAINE TO BECOME CANDIDATE FOR EU MEMBERSHIP

More than 140 diplomats walked out of the U.N. General Assembly as Lavrov gave a prerecorded defense of Russia’s Ukrainian invasion on Tuesday.

Lavrov appeared via a prerecorded message due to Europe’s ban on flights from Russia, which blocked access to Geneva. The foreign minister repeated several Russian lies about Ukraine, including allegations that Ukraine “made territorial claims against the Russian Federation, threatened to use force and acquire a military nuclear capability.”

Lavrov echoed statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Joe Biden, who both conceded that “nuclear war cannot be won and should never be fought” during a July 2021 Geneva summit. Lavrov also advocated for the United States to pull its nuclear weapons out of Europe.

NATO and the European Union’s “hysteria,” Lavrov alleged, only affirms that “it was and still is the aim of the U.S. and all its allies built by Washington to create an ‘anti-Russia.'”

Putin has made several threats of nuclear force in recent weeks, alleging that he would consider wielding atomic weapons if NATO forces got directly involved in defending Ukraine. Putin ordered Russian nuclear deterrent forces on alert, which has placed several European officials on edge. White House officials are also working to “ease the tension” over Putin’s nuclear threats.
