Daughter of former Russian spy poisoned with nerve agent no longer in critical condition: Report

Yulia Skripal, the daughter of a former Russian spy, is no longer in critical condition after she and her father were poisoned earlier this month in the United Kingdom by a military-grade nerve agent, according to a new report.

“I’m pleased to be able to report an improvement in the condition of Yulia Skripal,” said Christine Blanshard, the medical director for Salisbury district hospital, according to the Guardian. “She has responded well to treatment but continues to receive expert clinical care 24 hours a day.”

Yulia Skripal’s father, Sergei Skripal, is currently stable, but is still in critical condition, the hospital said.

The U.K. pinned the attack on Russia, and U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May expelled 23 Russian diplomats. Other Western nations have followed suit, including the U.S.

The Trump administration announced on Monday that 60 Russian official would be expelled from the U.S., prompting Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov to announce Thursday that 60 U.S. officials would be expelled from Russia in a “tit-for-tat” response.

Russian officials have denied Russia was behind the attack, and have, in turn, suggested that the U.K was responsible. Furthermore, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the accusations were a result of “delirium.”
