Cover fees, crowded sidewalks, the occasional murder — what’s not to like about D.C. nightlife? But according to new rankings, the real party isn’t in the bars of Adams Morgans or the clubs on U Street, but in the dormitories of Georgetown, GW, Catholic and Howard. No word yet on if it’s harder to get a fake student ID than a fake driver’s license.
The “First Annual Dormy Awards” from just-launched CampusSplash.com gave four of its 14 top “party dorm” spots to D.C. campuses. On a scale of five, Georgetown University’s Village A apartment complex scored a 4.8, making it the sixth biggest party dorm in the U.S. of A.
Catholic University’s Curley Court residence, Howard’s Harriet Tubman Quadrangle, and GW’s Thurston Hall rang in at 9th, 10th and 13th, respectively. The top spot went to Briscoe-Shoemaker at Indiana University-Bloomington.
The rankings, based on over 7,000 reviews, also named Georgetown’s Darnall Hall the third worst dorm in the country, George Mason’s President’s Park the fourth, and Howard’s West Plaza Towers the 13th.
A more favorable claim to fame? Bethunne Annex, at Howard, came in at sixth on the list of “dorms with the hottest residents.” We should get them over to Harriet Tubman Quadrangle.
