Cockeysville teen admits to killing dad, mom, brothers

The teenage son of Baltimore County lawyer John Browning told police he killed his father, mother and two younger brothers with his father’s gun.

Fifteen-year-old Nicholas Browning remains in custody at the Baltimore County Detention Center after a judge earlier today denied bail for the Dulaney High School student. The teen faces multiple murder charges.

John Browning, 45, who practiced law with the Towson firm Royston, Mueller, McLean & Reid LLP, was found dead Saturday along with his wife, Tamara, 44, and sons Gregory, 13 and Benjamin, 11, in their Powers Avenue home in Cockeysville.

Investigators said Nicholas Browning admitted during an interview overnight Saturday to killing his family, Baltimore County Police said today.

Officials said Nicholas Browning had not been getting along with his father, and on Friday night the teen took his father’s handgun and shot his family.

The teen dumped the gun in bushes not far from his house and spent Friday night and all day Saturday with friends, police said.

When driven back to his home Saturday at 5 p.m., he went inside the house and came back out to tell his friends that his father was dead inside, police said.
