D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray has scheduled a series of town hall meetings across the city to discuss his fiscal 2012 budget proposal.
One briefing will be held in each of the city’s wards, beginning in Ward 8 on Monday. Gray’s budget proposal, released earlier this month, calls for $5.924 billion in spending, an increase of $300 million from the current budget. It raises taxes and fees to generate $127 million and calls for $187 million in spending cuts.
The schedule for the town halls:
- Ward 1: May 6 at 7 p.m. at Bell Multicultural High School, 3101 16th St. NW
- Ward 2: May 9 at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1315 8th St. NW
- Ward 3: May 3 at 7 p.m. at Alice Deal Middle School, 3815 Fort Drive NW
- Ward 4: May 2 at 7 p.m. at Brightwood Elementary School, 1300 Nicholson St. NW
- Ward 5: May 4 at 7 p.m. at Luke C. Moore Academy Senior High School, 1001 Monroe St. NE
- Ward 6: May 7 at 3 p.m. at Miner Elementary School, 601 15th St. NE
- Ward 7: May 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Recreation Center, 3100 Denver St. SE
- Ward 8: Monday at 7 p.m. at Savoy Elementary School, 2400 Shannon Place SE
