It’s not too difficult to spell “AARP” — pretty intuitive, in fact — but an Arlington senior citizen proved he had more mental fiber than a bowl of bran cereal.
Michael Petrina, 66, took second place in AARP’s national spelling bee in Cheyenne, Wyo., losing out in the 39th round to a 58-year-old psychologist from Georgia, the AP reports.
Tony Johnson’s winning word? “Uakari” (wah-KAR’-ee), a type of monkey found in the northwestern Amazon basin.
Yeah, we don’t get too many of those in Arlington. Congratulations, Michael!
