The Israeli Embassy in the U.S. trolled the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei with a “Mean Girls” GIF on Monday.
On Twitter, Khamenei called Israel “a malignant cancerous tumor in the West Asian region that has to be removed and eradicated” – echoing a line he’s used in the past.
In response, the Embassy of Israel tweeted a GIF from the 2004 teen comedy film “Mean Girls,” which features the text, “Why are you so obsessed with me?”

This is not the first time an Israeli Twitter account has used a pop culture reference to comment on current events.
Last month the City of Tel Aviv tweeted out a GIF from the popular American sitcom “Friends” to show support for the U.S. moving its embassy from the city to Jerusalem.
