Girlfriend charged in Fairfax City murder
A 31-year-old woman was arraigned Friday on a first-degree murder charge in Fairfax City’s first homicide since May 2006. The victim, a 50-year-old man, died Thursday at Inova Fairfax Hospital from a stab wound to his upper body, according to a Fairfax City police statement. Officers responded to an apartment at 10702 Warwick Avenue about 5 p.m. for a reported stabbing and arrested the victim’s girlfriend, Fawn C. Scott. The victim’s identity is being withheld until family is notified, Officer Lynn Coulter said. Scott faces a hearing Dec. 5.

Dog chases down suspect
A Prince William County police dog ran down one of two suspects who reportedly fled a ManassasDepartment Store with about $775 in merchandise. K-9 Officer G.L. Moore and his partner Stryker tracked down one of the suspects hiding in the woods. Michael Gene Howell, 44, of Oakton, Va., was arrested on theft charges. The investigation continues, a Prince William County incident report said Thursday.
Gasoline tanker hijacked
An 18-wheeler carrying 7,100 gallons of gasoline was hijacked in Baltimore and recovered in Southeast Washington, near Bolling Air Force Base, police said. Police found the abandoned tanker truck at South Capital Street and Malcolm X Boulevard, about 8 hours after a gunman forced the truck driver from the vehicle at a fueling station in southwest Baltimore. Potential hate crime
Georgetown University police are investigating a campus assault as a possible hate-crime.
Early Sunday morning two people made anti-gay comments to a man on the steps of the Lauinger library steps, then followed him to the Healy building. The suspects pushed the man into the side of the building and blew smoke in his face, police said. No one was injured.
Last month, a 20-year-old Georgetown student was charged with assaulting a gay man near campus.
