D.C. Public Schools is starting an “enrollment blitz” next week to get students signed up for afterschool programs in time for schools’ Aug. 22 start.
What does a blitz involve, you may ask?
Well, the 101 schools that offer aftercare will have hours Monday through Friday (below) where parents can stop by, fill out the proper forms, and even get goodies like water bottles, drawstring bags, and T-shirts just for registering.
Don’t let your kid sit on the curb come the 22nd: Parents of elementary students must fill out a registration form, sign a FERPA letter, and provide documentation of residency, relationship to student, and income eligibility.
The fee for afterschool is based on federal poverty guidelines; the maximum cost is $9.22 per day, school officials said.
Full hours are:
Monday, Aug. 15: Noon to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 16: 8 a.m. to noon.
Wednesday, Aug. 17: Noon to 6 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 18: 8 a.m. to noon.
Friday, Aug. 19: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
